What is a dental X-ray and why do you need one?

X-ray (RTG) imaging is an important step in your initial dental examinations. X-ray imaging allows us to see pathological changes to your jaw bone or tooth roots, catch cavities, and monitor bone volume in patients with periodontitis.

X-ray imaging is an indispensable tool in the creation and installation of dental implants. It allows us to monitor the condition of the bone that will receive the implant, and is a critical tool for diagnosing inflammatory processes.

Who can get a dental X-ray?

X-ray imaging is essential for anyone preparing for oral surgery. Thanks to today’s advanced technology and lessened radiation emissions, X-ray imaging is appropriate and completely safe for patients of all ages.

That said, if you’re pregnant, you should both consult your primary care physician and let our medical staff know about your pregnancy, because the process will then require a tailored approach.
